is previous home insurance public information?

I think I know a case of insurance fraud on a house sold in St. Paul, and I want to know the police calls to a property.

Having dealt recently with the Dept. of Commerce, I will tell you that they are swamped. The recent onslaught of mortgage and apprasial fraud claims has them busy. I don't know the severity, nor the type of fraud you are referencing, but know going in, that is one busy government agency.

Correction, C.L.U.E. reports, which provides a 5 year history of property and their losses, are only available for a fee to current owners and insurers--so you would not be able to order the report. However, I agree with Aaron the the MN Department of Commerce might be interested in what you have to report:

I am not an expert on this, but I believe that police calls on the property would be a matter of public record... you should only have to go down to the police station and ask.

As for insurance, there is a C.L.U.E. Personal Property Report that you can order however it is not free: http://www.choicetrust.com/servlet/com.kx.cs.servlets.CsServ…

If all else fails, you could contact the Minnesota Department of Commerce, who handles the insurance industry, and they could point you in the right direction: http://www.state.mn.us/portal/mn/jsp/home.do?agency=Commerce

Hope this helps.
