Plainfield is a lovely established city. It has several outstanding historic districts that attract people from all over the tri state area. Ideally positioned 2 trains stations, close to Rt. 22, Rt.78, parkway,Rt. 287. Shopping and entertainment. diverse community , tree lined streets. Starter homes to million dollar homes. West end of town is high crime, near the public housing. Stay on East End. Town is good candidate for gentrification. It has two NJ Transit rail stops.

Rather than ask that question here you should ask the local police and talk to the schools. They will be honest and can answer you directly. We are not permitted to comment on crime in areas.

But definitely call the local police and schools.
There is a site called which may provide some info also. But I would still call the local police.
