Here are two great sites. The first is which give detailed
stats on neighborhoods throughout the U.S.
The second is, which will give you specific demographics
of an area.

Your local police dept would be able to give you information. Try different shifts as some shift could be more helpful than others. Also ask the local's that live in that community they are full of information and would know what is happening in the neighborhood.

The local police department can give you all the recent information you are looking for. They are a great resource for this type of research.

Best resource contact local Police Department. Safety is always an issue GREAT complete research prior to purchase.

Properties can appear have a GREAT value however in high crime area. Some areas of Dallas many agents refuse show properties in HOWEVER that is their personal preference.

You can also look at and identify crime hot spots. Alot of the DFW cities have their crime maps at that site.

You could ask them...

Seriously, besides talking to the local precinct in that neighborhood, also talk to neighbors up and down the street. Ask several and you'll get an idea. Also, look for graffiti also known as "tagging" on signs, walls, etc. This is also a good indication of criminal activity. Depending where you live, certain police websites can show you on a map all crime activity in that area using different symbols for different crimes.

Also, check for vacant, abandoned houses in that neighborhood. They could attract crime to that area in the future, the longer their left vacant.

I would call the CRO or Community Resource officer at the Police Department. They should be happy to discuss with you or they might be able to put you in touch with one of the officers on the gang task force who could stop by and speak with you about it.

Your best source of information with regards to safety is always the local police department or any officer you may encounter around town--why not stop in and visit, ask all your questions.
