Yours is a critically important question. Every homebuyer should make sure that the neighborhood meets their standard of safety and comfort.

Denver real estate homebuyers should contact the local police department for the most recent and most comprehensive crime report. It might be easier to visit a crime report website, but the website information might not reflect recent activity.

Be sure to visit the neighborhood during the busy evening hours, between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Try to meet the neighbors and strike up a friendly conversation. Ask them what they know about the house and the surrounding neighbors; you will find they offer a wealth of information.

Do a reality check as well, and see if there is graffiti, run down buildings and excess cars parked in an area.

Check out the web reference below. A couple of other suggestions. Drive the neighborhood that you want to live in around evening time and if you see neighbors in the yard, strike up a conversation to get a local view of the area.

Contact the local police department and ask for statistics. Ask if they have a local website that will give you the information you need. I would also ask if they have any officers that patrol the area that you can speak with.

One final suggestion is to review the city/town website for other helpful information that you may overlook but need to know.

Happy House Hunting.

You should be able to do a Google search or contact your local sherifs office.

You can check with your local police department to see if they have a website you can check on your own, and here is another site you can use to check -

It wouldn't hurt to touch base with your local police department to get context as well..
