As realtors, we do not determine what is "safe" and "not safe". This is why you've been referred to various sites where you can look up crime statistics. "Safe" is relative; what makes you feel safe may not make someone else feel safe. Check out the websites and if you have any mroe conecerns, I would suggest that you call the local police department to talk to them further.

You've gotten some good advice pointing you to of the more popular sites for crime mapping. This is the one I use and in my opinion is the best. Lance has a good link as well. Being in the running for reserve SFPD police officer, I always use this link in evaluating safety for an area.

Best of luck
The url for the SFPD's crime website is: http://sf-police.org/index.aspx?page=1618
Contact info for the Northern Station who covers Pac Hts is: http://sf-police.org/index.aspx?page=825
They can give you additional background info.

As a resident of Pac Heights, I can tell you that it is pretty safe. I am a young female and I feel comfortable walking around by myself after dark. My biggest concern is my ability to walk in heels up the hills, not so much the surrounding neighbors!
Of course, always use your best judgement. Most crimes in Pac Heights are burglaries rather than violent crimes:
The funny thing with SF neighborhoods is that they all bleed together, check out Trulia's Crime Maps to learn about surrounding areas!
Hope that helps,
