Brooklyn is a great neighborhood where prices continue to appreciate like much of the eastside of Portland. Brooklyn is starting to have more and more shopping and coffee opportunities. You'll just have to ask yourself "what is the most important to me?" You can check out neighborhood stats at http://www.portlandmaps.com

North Portland is also a good option. Can I ask what your reasoning is for living so far from work? Is it the charm of older homes? Likeability of the city? You may want to look in Multnomah Village on the westside....oooooh I said it, Westside.

Brooklyn does not have a lot of neighborhood shops to walk to. You are very close to Sellwood but if you are looking for an Eastside location that allows for an easy drive to Hillsboro...try North. I know it sounds crazy but I have sold many homes to Intel employess who go across the St. Johns Bridge and Germantown Road...great drive and you avoid all the junk on 26. You can still find nice homes and it has more of a neighborhood feel.

I think Brooklyn is a nice area, and I live very close by in Sellwood. I would definitely recommend touring the neighborhood to get a feel for it. There is also detailed information and many sources of statistics for the Portland area. For example. KATU did a special last year that has the crime statistics sorted by neighborhood. They found that Brooklyn had 9.9 burglaries per 1,000 people last year, and was ranked 44th out of 106 neighborhoods in the Portland metro in this category.

Please let me know if I can help further with your home search.

It is a very Nice area Dan. It is maybe not an A location but on the rise overall. That is sort of a long hump through traffic to get to HB. Are you looking at moving outside of the city of Portland? That can be a really smart Tax move. Sound slike you might be really committed to being in PDX! If so that si a good area and Yes I think it is a bit more affordable.

Of course we can assist you here as we are the Top selling Brokerage by a very wide margin. I would get some automated searches set up and start pinning down some real values!

Let us know if that would interest you.
