You can view crime through a tool provided by the Las Vegas Metro Police department. Frankly, looking at crime rates can be scary. Often we assume we live in an area with no crime. Be sure to compare these rates to those in your current home. Also, remember that many of us have happily lived here for decades - myself included.

This link [ http://www.lvrealestatehelp.com/blog/attn-buyers-use-these-s… ] has several websites that can help you find the crime rates in 89117 as well as other parts of the valley such as North Las Vegas, Las Vegas, and Henderson. The websites allow you to plug in the address of the home you are interested in and see all the recent crimes in the area.

If you would like to discuss the market or the various parts of town please contact me directly. I was born and raised in Vegas and I am very familiar with the different parts of town.

I look forward to hearing from you.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods. http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/

In Trulia, under local info, there's a crime tab. Click on it and it'll show you the recent crime reports in the area. Looks like there are some recent crime activities within the .5 mile radius...

As a five year resident of that area code, in the Peccole Ranch area, I can tell you that it is one of the safest ones around. I found my home by checking crime rates by zip code and then used specific addresses within the zip. It worked just fine and I am happy to say, this is a very walkable, safe neighborhood.

As agents we are not allowed to "profile" different areas of town. All we can do is provide you with the Las Vegas crime statistics web site so you can draw your own conclusions.

http://www.crimemapping.com/map/nv/lasvegas

It's pretty cool once you get used to how it works. To start, simply enter a property address at the top to search. When that specific property's area map opens, you can adjust the criteria by using the tabs above the map for crime types, dates, etc. The date will only go back for the past six months, but if you use the same criteria consistently it will give you a great idea of how much relative crime there is within a certain radius of a given address.

I like to search by zip codes myself. You can plug in the address as "89102, Las Vegas, NV" and pull up everything within a mile radius.

If you are truly concerned about crime, you may want to locate lower crime zip codes first and then look for homes within those zip codes rather than looking for a home first. You can go to this site and search for homes by zip code:

If you have any other questions, just shoot us an email at sold@greatlasvegashomes.com. We have been agents here more than 30 years, so we should have the answers. :)
