Another step you can take is to talk with actual neighbors in the area you are considering. They will be able to share with you their experience as they live in the neighborhood.

Drive around the area at various times of the day, evening, weekdays and weekends.

Then with that and those links you should be able to determine what is satisfactory in your opinion.

Have an amazing day.

HI Jean,
The links in the previous answers are all great resources to determine activity in a given area. I agree that realtors are not allowed to 'steer' clients in regards to neighborhoods. That was instituted to prevent prejudice or block busting. I do feel that it's our reposnsibility to research and answer clients questions and concerns as long as we don't cross the line into prejudice.I think your best resource is to check the links provided, and align yourself with a realtor who specializes in the area where you want to live. There is no substitute for local knowledge.
Our office and my home are in Morgan Hill, and we'd be happy to assist you.

Hi Jean,
As realtors we are not allowed to say whether an area is safe or not. I suggest that you contact the morgan hill police dept. or the Sheriffs dept. go to there web page and they will give you the crime stats. for that area. Also you can google for web pages that cover crime in Morgan Hill.
