Crime & Safety in 48331>Question Details

Jeff, Other/Just Looking in

Mystic Forrest Dr., Farmington Hills, MI

Asked by Jeff, Mon May 21, 2012

We have entered into a contract to purchase a home on Mystic Forrest in Farmington Hills. The subdivision is located between 13 and 14 mile and between Haggerty Rd and Halstead. We are not familiar with this area, but saw that Trulia did report higher instances of crime. I am looking for some detail on the crime and overall safety of the neighborhood.

Thank you.

Federal law that prohibits Realtors from "steering" consumers away from an area. Steering can occur when Realtors call an area safe or unsafe. For this reason you probably won't get a straight answer to your question on Trulia.

The law seeks to prevent neighborhoods from being damaged by a Realtor's idea of what is safe. The idea is to let consumers decide for themselves rather than let the realtors dictate the market.

Now you know why your question is being answered with references to other websites.

Hello,

Realtors are not allowed to answer questions like that. But I can give you the tools to help you answer that question yourself. Call the local police department and ask questions. Go these web sites and plug in the required information for answers;

Start here and even go to the areas you are considering and talk to neighbors.

I hope this helps.

Thank You,

Hello,

Your best source would be to call your Farmington Hills police station. Best to you, Rose Tibbles
