Hello- trulia has crime info and a graph you can look up right on this website. Search by zip code only. Go to more housing trends and you will see the info.

Also- city data is really good as well for some crime info and other ZIP code specific info.

If you need any other help, please let me know. Thanks,

you can call the local police station six on west broadway. South Boston has a bad heroin problem. It has been like this for years and is now coming to a boiling point since a local mother was murderd in her own home in daylight by a heroin addict . They will steal and do about anything to get their fix. The steal off their own mothers. This kind of addiction creates a very dangerous person and South Boston is now noted to be the most heroin addicted city in the country. Their have been more deaths from overdoses than anywhere in the country and now we are up to our third drug related murder in less than 3 weeks. You just have to be very careful and be aware of your surroundings because their is a lot of muggings and purse, cell phone, and ipod snatchings. My own daughter was beaten to the ground on the way home from school for her new ipod. To answer your question about baxter street. I guess it just as safe as anywhere else in southie because now it's happening even in the so called good areas. It's really sad how many kids and adults are hooked on this crap and can't stop because they need it to feel normal because the withdrawals are brutal. I have lived here my whole life and it's not the same anymore. You can't trust anyone, because they are going to steal off you or from your car or house. I would not send my kid here to live,. too dangerous. too many drugs and now murders involving drugs. Politicians tried to sweep it under the rug not wanting anything to upset their precious Seaport development project trying to get millions and millions into south boston and boston and the convention center. They would never get people to come here if they knew how dangerous it can be. They are just worried about money.and casinos. They just turned a blind eye until a local mother was killed in her own home by an addict and the local south boston people demanded change and more police involvment. We will see what happens within this coming year if any changes are made.

So sorry you feel this way. South Boston does have a drug problem but just as much as any neighborhood whether in the city or the suburbs. It was tragic about the woman killed by drug addict and he was caught and will be punished for this. The other girl was kidnapped and killed by a man who was not from nor did he live in South Boston and actually should not have been on the streets to begin with as he had been arrested previously and let go free. Is this the neighborhoods fault? I don't think so. The safety in South Boston has been renowned for many years but that was when the neighborhood was a neighborhood, when everyone knew each other and was not afraid to get involved. It was due to this culture, (unfortunately our lost culture) that kept out streets safe. Used to be all you had to do was yell and every neighbor in house and in block would be there to help, unfortunately now people don't even look out window to see what is going on. This is called citizen watch!!!!
