Looking for an apartment close to prospect park
I am interested in renting an apartment close to Prospect Park. Is one area safer then the other, i.e. is fort hamilton & coney island ave safer than parkside & ocean? I am a single female looking to live in brooklyn for the first time & I can't afford park slope/brooklyn heights. Thanks.

Hi Samantha,
The neighborhoods you named aren't really very close to Prospect Park. Below are a few neighborhoods near the Park and more affordable then Park Slope. Windsor Terrace Prospect Heights Carroll Gardens Gowanus Ditmas Park Greenwood Heights Prospect Lefferts Gardens Crown Heights Prospect Park South Those neighborhoods are loosely listed by safety (safer neighborhoods at the top), but keep in mind these things are always subjective. Bottom line: you should walk around a few of these areas during the day light hours. If you feel safe, then your OK, if you don't then the neighborhood is not for you. For more information and directions, have a look at the Trulia Neighborhood guides. They're fantastic. Good Luck, Jim Mon Mar 10 2008, 10:17 Web Reference: http://www.FromTheStoop.com
