Sadly everywhere is getting bad when it comes to crime and drugs. But just speaking of Huntington if you notice on WSAZ.com or The Herald Dispatch newspaper a lot of the people being arrested for crimes are in fact from the Detroit area. Not placing blame on anyone or place but there has been a lot of people arrested from that area.

To focus on a certain neighborhood as having crime and safety issue is a broad statement. The best way to find the statics on a specific area or street is to contact the police department and ask them your questions of concern.

It is illegal for any professional licensed REALTOR to steer you to or from a specific neighborhood. Due to many different lifestyles, home prices, gated communities and neighborhoods there will always be different community issues. What is one persons preference is not a concern for others.

I can respond that the police have had it with the crime of drugs. There are doing a great job arresting and convicting the drug dealers and trafficker's. I am licensed in three state WV, OH and KY. It isn't just a Huntington issue, it's everywhere.

I assumed it was the police department's statistics that furnished the info on Trulia's site, "crime" areas. The concern has been the ongoing high drug activity within the city of Huntington. Thank you for your response.

As long as bad people have access to transportaion, crime at all levels is possible.
This is an essential element of being risk aware.
Even the 'nicest' of neighborhoods have a higher level of home security because of this awawreness.

Those who believe living behind eight foot walls, enclosed by access controlled gates in the communities of oppulent manotony, keeps them FREE of all crime are living in the unfortuneate state of being risk oblivious. There have been a LOT of unlicenced pharmacies is exactly those locations.

One is never more secure than being surrounded by good neighbors they know, have fellowship with and share community values. That community is created, not found. That community is also destoryed by just one bad element moving in. Even then, working colaboratively, this is a short lived situation.
