When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Trulia doesn't have all the crime statistics. Google UCR and put in the location. Law enforcement report crimes and they are listed on the UCR. It will not give you the location of the specific crimes just a detailed list for the city. I'm not sure where Trulia obtains it's crime reports but it is not accurate and for someone to say it has all the crime reports, they don't know what they are talking about.

Trulia has all the crime reports for a given city that you choose, just go to the top click on Local Info then Crime and you’ll find charts, statistics, violent, and non-violent crimes, etc.
