When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods. http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/

Mostly theft from autos and a few daytime burglaries here and there. Happens everywhere. Check Spotcrime.com and Crimestoppers.com for weekly updates.

This area of Valley Glen is only 'high crime' if you consider thefts from autos and the occasional home burglary 'high crime.' Pretty much the same as other surrounding areas of Sherman Oaks, Valley Village, et al.

A quick way to check out the crime in a given area is by using Trulia to locate the property. Once you have found a property that interest you view the detailed view and scroll down to see crime in that area. Once you have settled in a few areas you can contact the local police department for more detailed info regarding a particular area.
