Carol,

I too live in North Park Hill and find it most desirable as my recent blog suggests - http://j.mp/I4yfyo . This is a transitional neighborhood experienceing a great upswing in activity due to the type of homes, location, and affordability. You can look at Denver's safety reports for North Park Hill and other areas here at this link - http://bit.ly/zSBnoR.

After living and working in the North Park Hill area for 20+ years, I would recommend it to anyone. One of the things I have noticed in the past couple of years is the influx 'suburbanites' moving back into the area and adding to the pride of ownership and care of the homes. Some owners, like my mother have been here for 30+ years are amazed at the transformation in the last few years. Park Hill is close to Downtown, Stapleton, and all of the amenities that Denver has to offer. Contact me and I will give you a personal tour.

I agree with the other agents, you can either check with the local police department or check online government crime statistics.

Legally we cannot discuss crime within specific neighborhoods. I recommend you contact the local police department for this info. There are plenty of resources online for this also.

Actually, if you look at the Denver Police crime data , you'll see the Wellshire neighborhood at or very close to the bottom of the list. Wellshire is bordered by the golf course on the south, and has a Denver Fire Dept. station on the North boundary. There is no commercial in Wellshire, so the only traffic is local traffic. All of the commercial is immediatly across Colorado blvd, so the neighborhood still has one of the highest walk scores in the city. A major advantage of Wellshire over Stapleton, lowry Observatory, Wash Park, Highlands, and the other "hot" neighborhoods is that there are no alleys for criminals to run through or hide in. When I visited Stapleton and went to the King Soopers to buy a sandwich I was shocked to see an ARMED guard at the door. That most definately should tell you something about the area.

Crime, interesting question. My son - fiercely independent young man - famously pointed out that Stapleton has far more crime reported than where he parks his car. But in terms of safety, I feel our well lit Stapleton street is safer than where my son parks his car on S Monaco Blvd. So, when you look at crime, I think you really want to view the whole picture. A good way to do this, drive the neighborhoods you are considering at different hours - 7 am, 1 pm, 8 pm. See how you feel about the area at different hours. Look to see if neighbors are barring their windows - that can tell you a lot about a community, regardless of crime statistics. Would you like to meet for coffee to discuss your buying concerns?

I have lived in N. Park Hill since 2003 and have not had much trouble at all. Now, just like any other neighborhood there will be break ins and such, but all in all I love N. Park Hill and don't want to move from this area.

Contact the police precinct that serves the neighborhood and inquire about crime statistics. They will be happy to help you.

Hi Carol, I would check with the local police department about neigborhood criminal reports. They should be able to answer questions you have about specific areas.

Good luck with your move!
