Rick,
The best resource for this information is the local police department of County sheriff's department. They have access to the most accuract and current information and are generally very willing to be helpful.

Good luck

Within the community (I live there) there have over the years, been periodic teen issues: a lawn chair in the pool, an iPod removed from an unlocked car - that kind of thing, but pretty seldom is even too much- it is a guarded and patrolled community afterall. As far as the surrounding neighborhoods, I have never personally been aware, but I have heard some comments made about issues in the neighboring condos off Hillcrest, but again, I've never read anything substantive to that effect, or even seen flashing lights, and I've been selling here since it opened in 1991. It's a wonderful place to live, and as someone who listed and sold 22% of the homes there last year, I would be more than happy to help you make your home in Rancho Conejo. It's truely the best kept secert in the Conejo Valley.

Yep, in some location they are not completely comprehensive at this time. At the very least you will get Meagan's Law info. Also, I have noticed in the past that sometimes providing the entire search address will release more info. Note as well, thay under "Crime Types" you have to configure what it is you want to see.

Depending on area, this is a really useful site; however, if the PD isn't one that likes "transparency" you might not get a whole bunch of information.

Steve,

I put Newbury Park, CA and Simi Valley, CA into http://www.crimereports.com

Their response:

We're sorry, apparently your local law enforcement agency isn't currently participating with CrimeReports.com.

Rick,

This question comes up all the time on Trulia. You will see that most agents will do no more than refer you to places you can begin your own research. Fair Housing Laws are very serious and could be violated if discussing crime rates. So, people who ask about this on Trulia are not being avoided and the answers are not meant to be vague. The agents are trying to work with in the laws.

Our best advice would be to direct you to the sources of this information.

Try these on-line resources:

http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/neighborhoods/crime-rates/
http://www.crimeweb.net/

I would also suggest checking http://www.mengans-law.net for the local sex offender registry.

The local Police Station would be your best resource >> 2331 Borchard Rd, Newbury Park - (805) 375-5630
