I find spotcrime.com to very helpful when trying to determine crime issues. Spotcrime will tell the type of crime, pinpoint the location on a map within a radius of a subject area/location.

Family Watch Dog has an informative website that allows you to sign up for email alerts that will let you know when a sex offender has moved close to you. It also has a mapping function so you can check the neighborhood of any home before you decide to purchase it.

The best sites to view crime are :
http://www.spotcrime.com
http://p2c.warnerrobinsga.gov/Summary.aspx
http://www.crimereports.com

There are also some great apps to use on your phone.I use" offender search" on my Droid, which provides a map and the criminal history of the sex offender.

After checking these sources, you can always call the police station for information. Explain to them that you are relocating to the area and you found the data on line. They will be more than happy to assist you with your concerns and will be the most accurate source for your conclusion.

Violent crime is low but small theft crimes of opportunity such as breaking into cars, purses disappearing in grocery stores, items dissappearing from unlocked cars seems to be high. Here is a link with more stats on crime rates.

Real estate agents cannot answer question about crime or the safety of a neighborhood. That is something you would have to do your own research on.

I agree with Rodney. I would only add that to do your own research, you could contact the local Police or State Patrol office for crime statistics/safety of a neighborhood.
