Sandra,

Do a google search for "Chicago Crime Map" to compare areas you are unfamiliar with to areas to know.

I live in the area with two daughters. I think you have to be cautious wherever you live and any place you go. We like the close proximity to the lake and easy access to both Lakeshore Drive and Dan Ryan expressway. It's easy to get downtown by train or bus in about 20 minutes. Yes, it's a good idea to come see for yourself. If you need me to show you around, just give me a call. Good Luck, Karen

I'm not sure why there is this category on Trulia since as agents, we cannot respond directly to your inquiry. Visit the area, drive and walk around at different times of day. Consult the city and neighborhood crime stats. Sorry we can't be of more help with this.

Dear Home Searcher,

Please visit the are during different times of the day. Here are a couple of websites that can help http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/il/chicago/crime/ , http://gis.chicagopolice.org/clearmap/startpage.htm . As licensed real estate professionals we can only answer questions about an actual property, etc.

We as agents can't comment on things of this nature. Only you know what's best for your family. Go there at different times of the day and night.

I moved here 10 years ago to Alsip community and have not had any problems. My children grew up playing with children from all nationalities and went to both stony creek, and prarie jr .high with wonderful memories of school. We are near 3 grocery stores and many small businesses. The police will respond with in 5 minutes to any emergency. If you are owning the property taxes are very high and that is my review of the community
