I am thinking of buying a house in "The Springs" in Chandler and I was looking for some advice on the area. Crime maps for the area between McQueen & Arizona are worrisome. And this neighborhood is right on the border. Is this something I should be concerned with?
Review zip code research via google search, Police website, visit and speak with merchants or residences in area hear what they have to state. Realtor can't render an opinion against our code of ethics

I've checked with the police, they told me "Crime has no address". I explained to him that, after looking at the crime maps it certainly seemed to be located along Arizona Ave....
I think I'll drive around the neighborhood at night again. Thanks Susan, and everyone, for all the info!
Home,
Issues on neighborhood safety are best referred to the local police or county sheriff's department. They have access to the most accurate and up to date information and are generally very willing to be helpful.
Hello Homeslice,
You obviously have the link to the crime statistics for Chandler and have checked them out. Neither Realtors, nor members of the police department can give you an "opinion" of the area. I say this as a Realtor and a former 911 operator.
What I suggest you do is to drive the neighborhood on different days and different times and see how you feel there. Is there anything that you see that concerns you? Also, you should figure out which grocery store you will be doing your shopping at and go there...the people in the grocery store will be your neighbors.
Also...a little anecdotal information. The crime statistics for my neighborhood show an average amount of assaults and thefts...which would concern most people. Until you consider the fact that there is a large movie complex and 2 bars on the edge of my grid. Also, you said the area that concerns you is nearby, which is a valid concern. I live about 1/2 mile from one of the statistically worst neighborhoods in Phoenix, but in my 3 years at this house I have never had a problem, never felt unsafe, and the police say they rarely get a call in my neighborhood.
You're making a major investment...do your own personal due diligence, you're the one that has to make the decision as to whether or not you feel safe or comfortable. Crime statistics are one tool for you to use in making this decision.
Good Luck!

Homeslice,
Your agent will be able to point you in the right direction of where to find all the information you need to make that decision. You can also visit my website where you can find links to several places with updated crime statistics.
Agents are not allowed by law to give you that kind of "advice", and even if one does it will only be his opinion.
Good luck,

You can check with the local police department for the answer to that questions. They will have the most accurate information.
