For the reasons stated below by my fellow agents we cannot give advice on whether an area is safe or not. Also, after doing research into crime in the are, someone used to living in the center of a major metropolitan area might consider it safe while someone from a rural town of a 1000 might consider it hazardous. In addition to researching crime in the area, I would advise you travel the route that you would be taking at various times of day to establish how comfortable you are with the environment.

You should consult with the local police on personal safety guidelines. There is a lot you can do and no matter where you are, you can implement the techniques, and should! People are responsible for their own safety and it's very easy to stay safe no matter where you are.

Laura,

We cannot legally comment on the safety of an area. However, there are plenty of websites which provide crime statistics. If all else fails, ask a neighbor.

Laura,

The general Medical Center area south of down town Houston includes Rice University, Herman Park, the Houston Zoo and some of the most expensive real estate in the city.

That being said, there is some crime everywhere. Realtors cannot comment on crime rates because we do not keep any of that data. It would be a "guess" if we did say anything. Check out this web site created by the Houston Police Dept that is real time updating every few minutes. http://mycity.houstontx.gov/crime/ Also speak to people that live there, maybe the local police officer on patrol. Hopefully this will get you the information your looking for.

If we can assist you in finding your new home, please let us know.
