When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Very good response, Anna. I also encourage buyers to contact the Arlington Police directly. They're always happy to help answer any questions about the town. Here is a link to their website:

Here is a great website to check crime stats down to the actual street:

We have a lot of family-oriented clients who buy in Arlington and absolutely love it! Great suburban town with amazing schools that has an urban appeal because of the close proximity to Mass Ave.

Realtors are not allowed to comment on issues such as these. You can always ask neighbors how they feel.

Doesn't sound like its safe for adults to walk alone these days anywhere, let alone children.

That's a loaded question. It is best for you to determine what is appropriate based on your child, your comfort level and any laws.
