Like everyone has stated, the Meridian, ID area feels like a very nice and very safe place to live in. I live there myself as do many, many realtors, and typically that's a good sign! I.e., if anybody would choose a great neighborhood to live in, it would be a realtor.
Much of the area is fairly new since the housing boom created a large interest in buying homes in Meridian, ID. Property values are pretty stable there as well, since they're protected by it's location that's virtually dead center of the county. Being so centrally located in ADA county, adults who work at one or the other end of town can get to and from work with ease.

Meridian is a very family friendly community and they work hard at keeping it that way.
As a matter of fact, I own rental homes and the Meridian police department has called me on several occasions to report suspicious activity (usually kids getting carried away on a home I used to own on acreage when it was vacant). In Boise however, I had much less favorable experience with some of my rentals down town as the Boise police didn't seem to want to be bothered with the paperwork on vagrants.
Is there a specific type of crime you are most concerned about and I am sure one of us will be glad to pull that statistic for you.
This is the Idaho State Police site. Choose Ada County and you will see the reports broken down by city.
