Hi, I have lived within a block of that area for the past 6 years, it is relatively safe. Anything that happens is more out of the norm than anything else.

Please contact your local precinct for this information. I personally have been in flatbush for over 40 years without incident, yes there is crime here but just like anywhere else and not extreme.

Ocean parkway north, its a beautiful place to live. The neighborhood has a lot of potential.

Dear lilmack:

Go to the local police precinct and ask them. You can also Google crime statistics by zip code and get a lot of good info. Spend some time in the area and talk to the people that live there. Go there late at night and see what's happening. Also speak to store owners.

In the end it is a matter of opinion. I think just about anywhere in Brooklyn is safe, that's my opinion.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

There are many ways to check the safety of an area. There are many wesites that gives statistics or the neighborhood police department. However, I do have and apartment for rent in the vacinity, within walking distance of transportation, shopping and dining.

Hi, liljmack.
The best way to ascertain safety of a neighborhood is to check with the local police precinct for crime stats.
