I have a friend who purchased a home that was being used by an organised gang of pot growers. I was running

new thermostat wires and saw a 2x4 screwed onto a top section of the walls interior I removed it and inside the wall was $750,000 cash! I came down fromthe attic with my find and my buddy is terrified the gangsters willsomeday return for their stash once released from prison. I say sell the place (after searching more) and book! what would you do??

Wow--the first thing I'd do is not post this on Trulia. What are you thinking?

The second thing I'd do is consult an attorney and "DO THE RIGHT THING."

Oh, I guess I would declare the income on my income tax returns. If it was stolen money, I would want to return it to the victims. But this is not money stolen by the gangsters. They earned it by selling pot. Even if the drug money is rightfully belonging to the growers, the police would confiscate it, and then use it to persecute cancer victims who buy , sell, or grow medical marijuana. So giving it to the police is a morally ambiguous idea.

If he sells the place, is he going to inform the subsequent buyers of the reason he is selling? Or let them be exposed to potential danger that he fears.

How about turning the whole story into a screenplay? Seth Rogen could play your terrified buddy. Who will play Blaquewraith in the movie?

A little scary! I have to say, for once, I am speechless. How about turning it over to the police and putting a sign on the front of the property that says:

Money Turned over to the Police
For Recovery, refer to Report # ______

Good Luck!

I meant that in a facetious way as I thought twice and figured perhaps you thought I was serious. I tried to enter a string of hahaha but Trulia wouldn't take it.
