This is Allyson I have helped clients buy in that area, what I recommend you do is drive around the area at different times to get an idea of the area and if possible talk to any neighboors. I suggest you also go on line and get the crime report for Milpitas at http://www.cityrating.com/citycrime.asp?city=Milpitas&state=CA
That way you will have a very good idea about your proposed purchase and not just what someone thinks.

Contact the Milpitas Police Department and ask to speak to a crime analyst or crime prevention officer. Ask for crime statistics in that neighborhood and for that condo complex.
