Irizm99,
I would do as CJ and the other agents have pointed out, if you are not ready to talk to the neighboors, check the web sites first off then drive the neighborhoods at different times of the day, then if it still looks good, talk to the neighbors.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Regards,
Allyson

Irizm99 --

One thing I would suggest is simply talking to the neighbors to get their experience. Not only does it help you to find out who lives near you (renters, long-timers, rock bands....etc) but many times neighbors will give a great history of issues that do or do not get reported to the police. I offer my clients a list of questions to get them started on door knocking. It is one of the best ways to get a feel for your new potential neighborhood.

You can visit the San Jose Police Departments web site at http://www.sjpd.org and it should be able to answer all your questions. You will find it very informative and will help you make an intelligent decision about any neighborhood
you may be considering. Good Luck.

Your best source of information is the local police department, why not call/visit and ask all your questions--if you are not familiar with the area, drive through the neighborhood more than once and at different times of day, look at everything that is important to you and if the opportunity arises chat with the locals.

As REALTORS(R), we are not allowed by our Code of Ethics to discuss which neighborhoods are or are not safe.

My suggestion is a visit to the local police station and talk with them.

There are web based statistical sites, but the cops are the best!

Good luck!
