When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Trulia has a crime statistics tool, too. You will need the zip code and/or neighborhood address. Google is a great tool too. Houston has many different neighborhoods, and having been in neighborhoods all over the Greater Metro area, it is common to have a really nice neighborhood with a few bad pockets or streets side by side. Do your homework, but better yet, drive thru the neighborhood on the weekends and when school and work lets out. You can get a good idea of the neighborhood by observing who takes care of their yards and if the children in the neighborhood are under control. Good luck, and feel free to contact any Realtor you feel comfortable with to represent you as your Buyer's agent.

Hello there,

As REALTORs we are not actually tell you what is safe or unsafe in general. The best advice that I could give to you is searching the address of the home on the web - google the address, then look up the the zip code or subdivision on the web as well. There are numerous sites that will allow you to get information on crime stats, or sex offenders and even pinpoint where they are registered. You should also check out the local or Houston Police Department's crime records and statistics.

Another great way to find out for yourself is to drive the community at different times of the day especially at night to get a feel for the area and neighbors.

Good luck to you and if you need further assistance please email me!
