When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

I think most people find Charlotte as a great place to live. There are a lot of people relocating here. I am a Charlotte native so I have seen a great deal of growth here. The traffic is busy but not to bad, depending on what your use to.
When checking schools a good site to visit is http://www.ncreportcard.org. This will tell you how the school is performing academically and in comparison to other schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school district as well as the state.

Hope this helps...

Bunny,

The area of Newell South is in a nice location. It is centralized to most fo charlotte and easy access to highways and uptown.

As a Realtor we are not allowed to steer people or give an opinion on a specific area. However; we can give you information and where to look up specific information. As such, I tell everyone that I deal with to call the local police department for that area and ask them about the crime rate. they are the best suited to give you that information since they patrol that area daily.

Traffic is realtive depending on what you consider to be a lot of traffic. The area is busier during morning commute and school bus schedule times in the a.m. becuase it seems you have both at the same time...Other than that I would not say ti is any busier or less busier than any other part of charlotte during the day.

When checking schools I have found the ebst site to compare schools is http://www.ncreportcard.org. This will tell you how the school is performing academically and in comparison to other schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school district as well as the state. it also gives you information as to how it is tracking...Is the school improving or getting worse or stagnant.

To find the school for a place you are looking to live you need to go to http://maps.co.mecklenburg.nc.us/geoportal/#177765 and put in the address and it will tell you what schools you are affilaited with at that address.
