The best resource for the crime rates and safety are the local police department or county sheroff's department. They have access to the most current and accurate information and are generally very willing to be helpful.

There is one central Elementary School and one High School in Port Allegany. They are decent schools with some excellent teachers. The music programs are especially outstanding. The crime rate is VERY LOW. This is a very nice place to live and to raise a family (friendly, small town atmosphere) . Skinner Creek Road is a 5 minute car commute from the schools and a 15 minute bike ride to the center of town.
