You can check https://www.crimereports.com/ or call the local police department, they'll have the most accurate and current crime info.

Most of the metroplex has a low crime rate. As the others have stated, statistics are available online. My advice is to choose an agent who works closely in the area you wish to be. Even the best places have certain areas to avoid. A good agent will care more about getting you in the right area rather than making a quick sale. I work from Dallas North to McKinney and Prosper. Please let me know if I may be of assistance.

Hi, I've lived in the suburbs of Dallas for 20 years. I would like to say crime is everywhere. However, certain areas allow certain crimes to be committed. I'll start with the Downtown/Uptown area. Lots of police troll the area but I have seen car windows broken, side swiped cars and little fender benders. I have even seen a hit and run a few times. Turtle Creek/Park Cities/Highland Park area are fairly safe. SMU is located in Highland Park area. I assume that most problems are correlated with college students and alcohol. Greenville/Lakewood area is safe up to a certain point. Lakewood neighbors a sketchy part of Dallas that has high drug activity. However, Lakewood is very family oriented and has wonderful private schools if you have kids. Northern Dallas and the Suburbs are very quite. You'll have about a 20-30 min commute to downtown. I'd stay away from Deep Ellum and the Fair Park area after dark.
