Your best bet would be to visit the local police precinct and talk to them. Also speak to local business owners and see what they have to sat about the neighborhood. You can also do a Google search into crime statistics in that zip code and see what comes up.

Lastly, spend some time in the area on the weekends and late at night and check out the "lay of the land". If I can be of further assistance, please contact me direct.

Hi, Marc.
I have two suggestions for you. One is to contact the local police precinct and inquire about crime stats. The other is to spend time in the neighborhood at various times of day/night and see how you feel. I recommend this approach to anyone considering a neighborhood they are unfamiliar with or have any concerns about.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.
