San Antonio is a great place to raise a family. There is a thriving art community here, including dance, theater, museums, etc. Lots of family-oriented stuff too.
Please feel free to contact me at 210-602-5017 if you are interested in knowing more about our home. It is not currently on the market, but we could work with you, if you are interested....

What type or art are you into? What is your prefferred architectural style? What's the budget you have in mind? Characteristics of the home you are looking for? Once I know more about you I can point you in the right direction. Thank you!
Older homes, with wide, tree-lined streets and interesting architecture can be found in several areas of San Antonio. Alamo Heights has lovely homes and great schools. The Monte Vista area near Trinity University has spectacular homes, with some affordable homes tucked in among them. Monticello Park and the Woodlawn Lake area have wonderful early to mid century homes, all individually designed.
Depending on your budget, you can find an interesting (non-mass-produced) home in many areas of town. Here is a link to school ratings and crime rates: http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/tx/san-antonio/schools?gcli We have several other resources available to you to help you to sort out all the factors.
Your best bet is to find an agent who will take the time to listen to your dreams and work with you to find just the right home for your family. If you care to contact us, we will be happy to send you without obligation our Buyer Preferences Questionnaire which will help us to zero in on exactly what you like (and don't like). We love taking our Buyer clients on Treasure Hunts to find exactly what they want. Our website link is http://ElegantTexasHomes.com.

Love Mississippi. My girlfriend is from Raymond and lived in Jackson many years till she moved to San Antonio. I think you will like it here as well.
I'd like to tell you about an area in the heart of our city that has several neighborhoods with older homes, mature trees and foliage, homes with character, some of the best schools in the city. This area feels like a small town in the heart of the big city. Close to the best shopping, museums, events, and easy access to downtown and freeways.
Very family oriented and pet friendly. The value is in the lifestyle. We also have developed a neighborhood forum to communicate with each other through email to build a strong community. We communicate about everything from events, suspicious activity, crime, lost and found pets, garage sales and so on.
If this sounds like what you're looking for, fee free to call me and I'll talk with you more about it.
I have several neighborhoods in mind, but do need more information. I am an experienced Real Estate Professional and live here in San Antonio for over 27 years. I know the city well and am familiar with the schools. I raised two children myself and know how important good schools are. Here is a link that shows you how well schools fare in and around San Antonio: http://independencetitle.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/SA_S
To always be able to check how safe a neighborhood is go to this site: http://www.sanantonio.gov/sapd .
You are welcome to browse the MLS, by loging in to my website http://www.SAHomes4Sale.net. Feel free to contact me anytime to find out more information. I would love to hear from you.

Welcome to San Antonio!
As a transplanted resident to San Antonio myself (and once a resident of Vicksburg), I can understand your concerns about a new area. I would be happy to give you stats on schools so you can first decide on what area would work best for your educational needs. The beauty of living in the San Antonio area is that there are lots of options for homes and not just your standard subdivisions.
You can go to my website for more details on the area and see videos of the local scene. I also have a home search link as well. It's http://www.MySanAntonioHome.net or if you have any additional questions, you can call me!
