Tina is correct. The Shelby area is nice. Of course as a licensed broker in NC we cannot comment directly on any area in relation to such statistics. This could be considered "steering" in that we could influence you in one direction or another.

Trulia has some crime stats for all areas under the Stats & Trends tab at the top of the page. You can also go to such websites as Zipskinny.com if you know the zip code of the home you are looking at.

I do have family from Shelby and spent a good amount of time there growing up. Of course I have not been there in over ten years so I guess for one thing it depends on where in Cleveland county you are thinking of buying in also. Below is the website for Cleveland county. You will see a link to the Sheriff's department so you may research or contact them directly with any specific questions you may have.

While I am not an expert in Cleveland County I can tell that these things do occur occasionally in all areas. It is not something that is common and can vary from one part of town to another.
