My colleagues below give good advice. You can also contact a mortgage broker. They usually have some working relationships with experienced credit repair specialists who can help you increase your score and get you on track to be pre-approved to buy a home.
When you are ready to start house hunting, please feel free to call me.
Have a great day. Looking forward to speaking with you soon.
All the best,

Review your current credit reports and check for incorrect information. You can dispute wrong info directly through the credit bureaus. Be careful, though. If the creditor verifies the account, it could bring these older items back to the top of your report.
The best way is really to keep your current payments current. Don't just pay the minimum, however. Keep the ratio between credit used and your credit limits to between 10-25%. This is one of the best ways to show you are reliable and a good credit risk and will have the most positive impact on your scores.

Go to the library and get Dave Ramsey books and look at his website. He gives sound advice and is legit.
This is a start and stay away from people who promise to fix your credit and charge you a fee. You can do it yourself for FREE.
Good Luck and I know you can do this.
