Do I have to pay off the original creditor AND every collection agency for the same creditor for a complete deletion?

Pay for delete agreement is normally made with the original creditor or the collection agency to remove an outstanding debt listing from your credit report.

If the name of the collection agency or the creditor gets listed in your credit report with a particular debt, you should first ask for debt validation by sending a Debt Validation letter to the creditor. Once your debt gets validated by the creditor, you need to send a Pay for delete letter

your debt may have been sold to another creditor if so your agreement with that creditor may or may not apply see advice from from legal aide.

Jeanette you should get a copy of your credit report first to see what and how things are reported. Also check teh statute of collections becuase if the debt is close to being dismmissed, you wouldnt want to open it up and start the clock ticking again. For debts that are valid you will want to send a verification of debt letter to each company/collection agency that holds an account on your credit report. Do not lump them toegther, do it seperate for each one. If they do not respond within 30 days you can petition to have the debt removed from your report. For the ones that do send bakc a verification, then send the letter pay to delete.
