Whats the first step to take? My husband and I are potential 1st time homebuyers but our credit isnt good. We pay a good sized rent each month and know we can afford a mortgage.

Your first step is to repair your credit. I've seen the VA turn down loans to military members if there is credit is not good. Usually when there's poor credit, there are unpaid bills, and high credit card balances. Work to pay off these amounts monthly...

Good luck.

The first step is to talk to a lender that is experienced handling VA loans. They can guide you through the correct steps to take, including the right moves to begin repairing your credit. Please let me know if you need someone, I work with a few wonderful, very knowledgeable people!

Fix your credit, don't think about buying until you do. Don't listen to anyone who says "I have loans for people with bad credit." Bad credit isn't just about your credit score, it's about bad habits and bad decisions. Cure those first so they don't repeat.
