I have clean my credit up, with the exception on a few hospital bills from 2005. my lender told me that I just need to keep making payments on my car on time, as i have been for the past year. I don't understand why my score is still in the low 500's. She suggested a secured loan with my bank to show more history of on time payments.
I don't want to sound impatient but I 'm a bit furstrated that I have seen a huge difference is my scores. I've only bumped up 15-16 points ( for my middle score).
Good things come to those that wait...maybe i'm a bit anxious.
It can be frustrating. If you have three non-reportable items, i.e. rent, utilities, cell phone, that you have paid perfectly for 12 months and have no outstanding balances other than your car and hospital bills then you may qualify for a USDA or City backed loan. Make sure your loan officer has experience with these programs. If not, find a new loan officer. Everyone has issues from time to time, the important thing is that those days are behind you and you have 12 months of clean payment.
In any event, good luck. Andy
