We have lived just two streets away from Meadowlark for 16 years. We have had no problems concerning crime. A good number of our neighbors walk their dogs near & after dark with no problems other than what is native to the area. We have javelina because there is a wash in the middle of our area. They follow it, as do the coyotes. Small dogs shouldn't be left outside due to coyotes & birds of prey in the area. If you have a dog run & have a fencing roof over top, they should be fine.
We have found scorpions & king snakes inside our home and one baby rattlesnake outside on the sidewalk near the front door. An occasional mailbox is knocked over by someone backing out of a driveway. My mother did it twice to a neighbor. We really love Verde Village 7 & that area in particular.
Since we moved here in 1996, I know of three houses which burned. One of them happened in the middle of the night. The house was in a cul-de-sac off Meadowlark & everyone got out just fine. It took awhile before the family had their own clothes, but the house was soon rebuilt.. Another was due to a scented 'Plug In". The owner was at work & came home to find damage to her door caused by the fire department breaking in. The house was so well sealed, the fire snuffed itself out by the time the fire department got there.. The third started in the chimney of the fireplace. It spread to the garage & went up from there. The mother & two daughters had been playing a game in the living room & heard strange sounds coming from the garage. They all got out & went to a neighbor to call 911. Her house has been rebuilt.
But, as far as crime? Very little, I would say. There is none we are aware of.... more
