I recently emailed (email@example.com) a potential landlord (?) on 3/22/2016. A craigslist add for a property for rent in Chester County, PA. I knew from the first response it was a scam. A long story was emailed to me of the circumstances why they are renting their home. The biggest clue they were scamming was telling me to drive past the property but do not contact the agent on the sign located on the property, they were a former agent they are no longer using. So I emailed back asking the person to call me to discuss the property. I got a return email with a number asking me to text back to a number 919-891-3974. Also a long list of questions was part of the email. But no phone call as I asked. I will be turning this info over to the Office of Attorney General of Pennsylvania, department of consumer affairs/fraud alert... more

Good question Abe. Like anywhere in WNC the HOA fees are spread out across the board. There are very reasonable HOA/Community Fees that are barely a $100 a year, but certain larger communities that offer golf and other amenities have higher HOA fees. If you are seeking WNC's most desired mountain town and wish to keep your monthly cost down...Brevard has plenty of areas to take care of your need. I hope this helps and answers your question. Come see us!... more
We have high speed Internet, but some comunities do not have cable. Internet is via the phone service so if cable is not avaialble then the best option is satellite, Are there particular areas you have interest in?

Here in Western North Carolina our market appears to have stabilized, leading me to believe that the next 12 months will begin to turn around and head back to a good, predictable selling and buying real estate environment. This stabilization has come about from sellers understanding the true value of their property, opposed to hanging on to the peak pricing of 2005...allowing older inventory to be cleaned out. The Clay Team is very much encouraged by the current trend and look forward to being a major contributor to this new, fresh, and emerging real estate market.... more
Connestee Falls has numerous amenities, and it's definitely not just an elderly community. It has many properties being used as vacation homes, retirees, working families, and even vacation rentals. If you're looking for a community that offers numerous clubs for getting involved and meeting other locals, great golfing, lake access, hiking trails, and even it's own dog park, then Connestee might be a great place to consider. You can peruse the website for a lot more detail on what the community has to offer.
The inital fee basically buys you into the community. There is then a $2,000/yr (approx) association fee.
Up here I would say to contact either the city housing authority OR the state dept. of human services. Either one should be able to direct you where you need to go and tell you if you would fit the criteria or not. In some places there is a big backlog of cases. That could mean a longer wait for a reply (or place) than desired.
In the white pages of the phone book... North Carolina (state of) and lots of departments and choices to choose from. Look for human services, maybe some other organizations there could be of help. The dept. of human services should also be able to assist with food stamps (if applicable)
Under white pages Brevard, (city of) <or nearby real city of small town> you should see a few numbers. You may see housing authority (or something similar). Also, ask at your town office. They often can help someone in immediate financial need. " General assistance" is what they call the program up here.... more
