Realtors don't check credit, so get to a lender right away. It's up to a lender to approve or deny your application, but it takes more than a down payment. It takes a credit history, even if it's some non-traditional credit, a solid job, assets and character.
If you misspoke and the lender says you have no credit, ask your agent to find out if the seller will finance or find another lender. A portfolio lender may consider loans that other lenders don't.... more
