i've noticed that on nearly every answer to questions to potential customers there are thumbs down

Asked by Katherine Davidson, 32233 Wed Jul 16, 2008

indicators. is it possible that every question is a bad answer to folks, or is it possible that some people on this board are hitting that thumbs down just because? i don't get it. aren't we all in this business together and to help each other. i can't imagine what it would take for me to want to negatively comment in public to a fellow realtor. just my thoughts.

Hi Katherine:

Every once in a while, you will get somebody like that on Trulia. It could be a customer, it could be a troll, and it could be a real estate pro, who knows.

It does not feel great when you (I included) feel that you put in a lot of effort and gave a great answer; somebody comes in and give you a TD out of no reason at all. Unfortunately, there is not much you can do about that. The good thing is if you stay on Trulia long enough, people will notice the good answers you give, and you will receive your share of TUs.

And to me, TU says thank you for your time and good answer. A good thing to give out, I personally think.

Katherine,

I’m not a habitual TD’er, but I know why Realtors® are getting TD’d from time to time.

The posters here and the lurkers alike are a reasonably smart bunch. Some people post pretty thought provoking questions about current market conditions, negotiations and the like.

That being said, critically thinking consumers, your potential customers, are turned off when a good question is followed by GTTB message after GTTB message. It just cheapens the experience here, in my opinion.

Want to look smart and garner favor among the unwashed masses? Support your opinions with data. The Realtors® that do are respected and appreciated.

Good luck,
-John
