for Nj agents. Am I the only agent fed up with having to join multiple mls systems and associations to do business in NJ? why cant we have 1 mls?

doing business in central NJ we need membership in atleast 3 different mls systems. rules vary and some are very quick to fine you for missing extraneous paperwork (not required by others) feels like extortion and does nothing to protect the public. In fact when properties lie in bordering areas they typically get listed in 2 or more systems which then may lead the public to believe there are multiple homes on market exactly the same. how can we lobby to get one mls, one set of rules and one fee for membership??

The reason we have all these MLS systems in New Jersey is the same reason we have over 550 municipalities in New Jersey. As I like to say: “There are the other 49 States and then there is New Jersey.” Look at it this way. We always have something to talk about.

I have a listing in Washington Township in western Morris County (GSMLS). It is also listed far to the East on Bergen County's NJMLS. As it turns out there is a Washington Twp in Bergen County also. We get lots of calls from Bergen County buyers who think it is in Bergen County and want the "great deal". We have actually gotten some of them to work with us and consider moving farther west to get more house for the money. Sometimes there is an upside.

I hear you Ken!!! It is such a disservice to the sellers when there is such an overlap. Especially when agents don't list properties that sit on the border in the different MLS systems and then don't see the full inventory. Does anyone on the board of MCAR know if there has been any discussions about this with NJAR?
