Goodness No! The average age of a Realtor is in the mid-50's. Age is not an issue with the field, and your prior experience is a plus! Best of Luck to you! It's a very exciting field.

Speak with the managing broker of the agencies you might want to affiliate with before you start the process. They might be able to help you decide if you want to enter the business. Your age should not be important, but remember real estate is a business and a full time job if you want to be successful.

This business is all about who you know, don't let age deter you. You choose the broker, always remember that.

Not likely.
Now, if you are sprouting body piercings, or body ink, or the color of your hair does not occur in nature, that just might get noticed. Even then, when it comes to being accepted by a broker, it is all about making MONEY, how you appear, your age or any other factor is secondary.

You should read my seven blogs titled "7 Things I wish I knew before starting real estate" (first one dated Feb 14) to prepare yourself for selecting the right broker for you.

They DON"T pick you, YOU select the one that aligns with your goals.
If you have no real goals regarding your real estate aspirations, those seven blogs were written specifically for YOU.

Age.....experience, really......is a plus in this industry. Being a school teacher can also be a plus. I always tell my clients, and I truly believe this, that my job is really about educating them and protecting them. It really is not about "selling" houses. I find my clients really appreciate being taught what the process is and what to suspect.

Vgk,
Probably not. Brokers are looking for agents who will be successful because in this industry, no one gets paid if we don't sell homes. Some companies may be a better fit for you than others, but not due to age, more likely it will be personality. Getting the right fit is key to your success. A broker who can assist your learning, coach you effectively and be available as needed would be very helpful.
Meet with several companies as you prepare for your test and see where you feel you would both personally benefit and be a benefit to others. Some offices are very competitive and others are more cooperative. Which is best for you, depends on what you thrive on.
Best of luck and welcome to our world.
