Would there ever be a chance that the borough of Mountain Lakes would permit wind turbines as a source for alternate energy?

How do you feel about using more alternatives in our energy sources?

In Mt. Olive Twp., Benjamin Moore, Inc. located on Rt. 206 South just finished installing solar panels that are expected to reduce their energy costs by over 50%. Here's one link to the story: http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20101119005676/en/Benj…

The "word on the street" so to speak is that the ToysRUs Warehouse located just off of 206 South, just a little past Benjamin Moore is also looking into installing solar panels on their building to help reduce energy costs

Wind turbines have improved over the past few years and are also great sources for alternative energy, however, as I understand it, you have to have consistant wind of 8mph for them to work as intended.

Regardless of what types of alternative energy sources you may want to utilize, always check with the zoning department of the town your home or business is located in to make sure if you need to have any special permits or perhaps if you may need to apply for a waiver of current zoning laws.

Just hpothetically Joan, just wanted to see how open and receptive the real estate community would be to this type of alternative energy.

Are you saying that this is a proposal that is actually on the table or are you talking hpothetically? I don't see anyone having a problem with alternate energy sources. However, I do see residents having an issue with wind turbines marring their view in the somewhat rarified air of Mountain Lakes.

I'm sure anyone would love to reap the benefits of alternative energy sources as long as they don't have to see it or pay extra for it.

John,

There's always a chance for anything.......alternative energy is the "Hot Ticket" right now and will likely continue to be. I firmly believe that we are a society with incredible ability to shape the future....wind turbines are only the " tip of the iceberg" when it comes to where we are heading.....it's a matter of time!
