What is your strategy when you are faced with a less than professional colleague (online or in person)?

There are different types (shades) of "less than professional"...
Not responding to calls, disorganized (loosing documents or late for appointments, or forgetting to cancel an appointment), being dishonest on MLS, lazy to find out what the maintenance fee is, or
not disclosing being rude.

If it is not responding to calls - I keep on contacting through all means available.
I also let my client know what is going on.

If disorganized - I move on. I'm not the other agent's mother or boss.
We can't change other people.

If it is dishonesty - we can do the ICheck option in MLS to correct the info.

Complaining? So far, I never complained about other agents.
But - rude agents create their own "reputation".
Tomorrow - their offer just may not be accepted if there is a bidding war.
Being professional and nice, on the other hand, pays off big.

Hope this helps,

Smile and push on. Often you will see or work with that colleague again. Try to keep those bridges intact.

I agree with Meg, 99 times out fo 100, I just shrug it off and move on. But there are definitely realtors who I am more, or less likely to want to work with.

In most cases I simply let it go. You have to be focused and stay positive rather than pick up a fight.
If it directly affects my business and it happened twice so far in my career, I contact the managing broker and form an official complaint asking for support and resolution.

There is no particular strategy when you are faced with another agent who is less experienced or unfamiliar with certain procedures (I guess that is what you are referring to when you state "less than professional"). I simply try to educate whenever possible.
