Hi Allison,

I still think staying in touch with your sphere is benefiicial. You never know who on your list is looking or knows someone that is buying or selling. I do fun mailings just about every holiday and keep my name in front of them. Once it led to not only the first buyer but then the mother, brothers, in-laws, cousins etc. I think I sold 8 homes in one family. Of course I did give great service (pat on the back) :) :)

Also, you might want to hold a charity event at one of your listing, especially if it is a high end property.

I might have to consider Debbies idea also.

Do a good job for my clients so they will refer me to their friends and family. There is nothing better than word of mouth advertising.

Hey...........If all else fails.....I find stapling my business card to 10 dollar bills & handing them out at the mall helps!

:)

(there is someone out there who will be wondering..........does she really mean that??)

I think staying in touch with your sphere is important. That and being easily found online.

Allison,
What a great question and truly wonderful responses. For many of my marketing endeavors, I should have taken Debbie's advise and simply walked the street handing out $10 bills and saying, "Let's talk real esatate." The conversion rate would have been higher!

What I have found most beneficial in creating the infrastructure enabling me to help others attain their goals. It could be a science fair project or assisting with the Midnight Run, helping other organization, businessses and citizens solve a problem, reach a goal, creates the firm grasp of hands that pull everyone to a higher place. Then, when we meet a young person such as Ishan, who I write about in my blog, we, as a community celebrate together.

Allison,

Being civic minded and contributing to community activities is one of the most popular means of generating market attention. When people see you volunteering and contributing to community activities they will not only see you as Allison Fishwick but Allison the real estate professional that is always willing to help others....isn't that what real estate is all about.....helping others?

Nice question,

Bill

Staying in touch with your sphere and past clients. Engage in social media. Those two have been our biggest and best marketing.

I take care of my customers. Satisfied customers is still the best form of advertising!

Referral marketing! I received offers on my home just by sending letters to all of my neighbors and asking for referrals!

Hi Allison,

I believe one of the most important things you can do to market yourself is to develop a marketing plan that reflects the authentic you, not something that is canned and used by a hundred other agents. Once you have found your marketing niche, you must then be consistent in with it.

Good Luck!

Hired a business-sales-marketing coach. I'm not sure the exact title of guys I hired, but their integrated approach to dissecting every facet of my business prior to giving marketing advice was monumental. I was provided a top-notch, facts driven and results proven marketing plan that totally changed the way we looked at marketing.

Partnering with a lender who will provide, execute and pay for marketing isn't a bad idea either.

Not only staying touch with your sphere & past clients on a regular basis, but reminding everyone you know all over the country that you can refer them, their friends, etc to an agent. I once worked with someone who made lots of money just from this, she really worked the referrals across the country.

You have to have a strong web presence, like on Trulia, Zillow, and others. I don't think print advertising is what it used to be! Just my two cents worth . . . .

Before you do anything else, let people SEE your professionalism by: Dressing appropriately for your environment; being well-groomed; being positive and outgoing without appearing "slick" or superficial; keeping your language and jokes clean in all work and social situations; learn (if you don't know them already) old-fashioned manners - everyone appreciates them.
After you have your image in place, you can move on to the other stuff. Project a poor image and it doesn't matter what else you do, you're probably going to end up working where you'll have to say, "you want fries with that?"

Talk to people. Eventually a conversation will come up and they'll ask what I do or if they know how's the market. This gives me the opportunity ask them some questions to see how I may help them or others they know.

I guess my simple answer is to help people.

Sell homes. nowadays, people want results and good customer service & like Maureen stated the word will spread. I always think of it as when you go to a good restaurant next thing you are doing is telling your friends, family, etc.

you can post your success on facebook, craiglist and your website. these are all free and cost effective way.
