A good and/or great REALTOR is someone who "gets it."

Getting it of course is hard to quantify but in the sense of working with clients, they are someone who puts him/hersefl in their shoes takes the steps to council and guide towards the best possible outcome for them while following a code of ethics and minimizing their self interest.

That may be a philosophical answer but it comes from the heart..

I like Josh's answer. LOL. This question should be directed towards buyers and sellers. They can tell you what a good Realtor is. I say that only because we service them and from their experiences, they can give us a better answer. However if you meant from a standpoint of working with each other, a good Realtor is any individual that is ethical with his/her business and puts the client first. My .02 cents.

The best realtors minimize the stress of buying or selling - which can be "off the stress charts" these days. It starts with trust - the basis of all good relationships. The best realtors have reputations for ethical representation with with their clients and fellow real estate professionals. They also have deep experience in their local markets which, in turn, enables them to provide excellent advice and counsel to their clients when important decisions have to be made. They are also good problem solvers who can anticipate or resolve any issues that can jeopardize a successful transaction. Last, but not least, they are excellent communicator who listen well and are responsive to client concerns.

A "good realtor" puts his client's best interest above his own, follows the code of ethics as the Texas Real Estate Commission rquires, and always does the right thing.

Someone who is diligent, informed, available, and who is interested in serving his client--not just making the deal. If you as an agent take care of the needs of those who trusted you, the money will follow. Of course, we are all interested in making money. However, if you do the job right, the money will follow. However, getting the leads, which lead to appointments, which lead to closed sales is your primary task. When you get the clients, do what your parents told you to do: "Do right and act right."
