There are a lot of scams around right now. This looks like one of them. Run in the opposite direction as fast as you can!

I'm thinking he must also know the individual who left you the inheritence there also :-)

Scam...don't waste your time on it!

LOL! That is so funny. Not more than a few minutes ago I received the exact same solicitation. You must not have responded quick enough. Ha! Ha! Oh well better luck next time John.

John ... you know the answer. It is one of the hundreds of variations of the Nigerian Scam. Check your Spam folder and you'll see a few per day caught in there.

A guy with that much money to invest in real estate already has contacts in the US, he's not going to find an agent here. He would also know very well that our "country's bylaws allow foreign investment."

I'm certain this is legitimate and I would jump on the opportunity.

This is a classic. I've literally seen variations of this scam thousands of times in my prior business. It obviously works on some people as scams like this is a real cottage industry in Ghana and especially Nigeria. Instead of call centers to answer our customer service calls, they have hundreds of people pounding out billions of emails to every conceivable avenue of contact. Unfortunately for us, their governments have little incentive to police the activity, since it does generate a nice income for their country. And, for them, what's more satisfying than cheating some rich, dumb Westerners out of some money.

Apparently he's hitting up all the San Diego agents. He sent me the same email at 2:47AM. Nice...

If Trulia would allow a one word answer . . . my response would be scam.

Hi John,
Why don't you reach out to him and let us all know how it goes?
We promise we won't take the information you provided and beat you to the punch.
Best of luck,

It never ends.
Monday I actually got 'checks' delivered by FEDEX. Read my blog.

15.5 milll....a percentage of that is attractive...and they are counting on that.

You only "think" you know the answer? In that case, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn that I can sell you.

Better yet, let's do this all legally and properly. I'll sell you a quit claim deed for the Brooklyn Bridge. Now, that's totally legal and enforceable (assuming I currently own the Brooklyn Bridge).

Sound good? Let's do it!

Anyone investing 15 mil isn't going to find a broker on Trulia, IMO.

Obviously this is a kick for we professionals inasmuch as we're a little more sophisticated than a lot of our clients. But there are a lot of unwary folks out there that get suckered by these scuz bags everyday. FYI to all. I just sent him and email and told him not to waste his time on this or Active Rains site.

Now does anyone want to JV with me on the water acquifer I just discovered in Death Valley. Just email me all your bank account info so I can deposit all the money you'll be earning directly into your bank accounts. All I need in your routing and bank account numbers.

Have a great weekend!! LOL

Will, Not exactly true. I'm actually discussing a 20 million dollar resort development. http://www.surferspointresort.com as we speak with a group of Canadian investors that found me on Trulia. They were looking for resort property and I've been working on this project since '07 with my buddy who owns the property. Frankly, I'm quite pleased with the leads I've picked up on Trulia. But thanks for your comment.

Looking forward to it Jason. I'm leaving for Cabo on the 8th for a couple of weeks. Let's try to do it before I leave. I've got some things happening you might want to take a peak at.

Sinead, that's toddy time for him from where he's calling from. Thanks

Fortunately Michael, I don't suspect there's too many "rich dumb westerners" that bite on this. It's more about the not so rich and not so smart unwary folks that write into this forum daily seeking real advice from real experts that I worry about. But thanks.

Lance, that's exactly what I was thinking. Want to do a JV?
0 votes Thank Flag Link Fri Oct 28, 2011
