Amy,
I agree with Kathy check out several agencies and see what they have to offfer you towards mentoring and training. I made the mistake of begining at a smaller agency that promised training. The training was go call your SOI (Sphere of Influence like friends and family) that was nice and all but I moved to New Mexico from out of State all my friends were other new agents. I switched to Coldwell Banker that had the best trainer and training department, also when I got to my office I had a Broker that was interested in mentoring me, not hoping I stay past my first 3 transactions.

I also woulld consider if this move is right for you? Real Estate is more of a lifestyle than a job. With long hours and few days off. Very little respect as you can see by some of the comments on this board. But it can also be rewarding when you help someone achieve the dream of owning there own home or selling their home for a great profit they can retire on.

Amy, I would not want to do anything else in the world than be a Realtor, good and bad, I love owning my own business and meeting great people I have worked with. If you do decide to become a Realtor I wish you success!

Just to set the record straight..............Keller Wiliams is a "profit Share" company. If you have people in your downline(people you recruited) you can make money thru a profit share system. Great retirement later or extra income you don't have to work for now. But, you do NOT have to participate in this if you do not want. Plus , soft sell is finr with KW. It is YOUR business. Do it how you want. Just be ethical, and all is well. Plus you can make up to 100% commission.Good luck in your decison!Sandy Souilliard

I had a very similar background and have been doing this over 2 years and have already sold over 10 million in that time. I have worked many hours and enjoyed every minute learning things. I am with a boutique agency in Dallas that has been very supportive. I see all these Keller Williams answers. They are fine too but in my opinion you need to interview with a variety of brokers and find the right fit. You will be using all your contacts initially when you get started. You need to learn soft sell sale techniques.

Some agencies such as KW are recruitment focused and have downline payments etc. I would consider them but also check out the brokerage with the best training programs for you. Good luck!

Amy,
Keller Williams is the way to go.The training is the best and the Lead Generation is key to your success. If I were starting over agian, I would get a mentor (someone in your office)who can guide you through .Also, find an agent who has great listings,do open houses for him or her and get leads that way. Stay in a reasonable price range. The most expensive homes are not always the easiest to sell. And lastly, have some money in the bank. It takes some time to make the money. Best of luck to you. Amy,
I would check out the tools (see my free KW website linked below) and training that Keller Williams Realty has. Industry leading.
You will need to work hard, and we will tell you you are in the lead generation business and just happen to be in Real Estate. If you can't come up with leads, you just can't survive.
Good Luck.
