The local telephone co (verizon) has submitted a request to stop publishing the phone book and yellow pages. IMHO this may not be the resource to invest in.

However, I have talked to buyers and owners who called the office from the yellow pages. After all the money real estate agents spend in marketing, there are still people who are able to ignore the junk mail. AMAZING!
In my conversation with these people, they stated they already knew they would use REMAX so they called the brokers shown and did business with the first agent that called them back. None of these brokers have an ad in the yellow pages, just a one-line business listing. Summary, the agent ads were ignored.

When was the last time anyone looked up anything in the Yellow Pages? For me, I can't remember looking in the last five years. However, I do remember every year saying, "What, they're still publishing these!", as I carry them off the front yard and rotate the stock in the drawer that is no longer by the phone which is now moblie and on my belt. Don't we see a future with yellow pages and news coming via or PDA and Kindles?

Now, about those newspaper ads...........

This is a great question as we have all moved on to the net. I used to advertise in it years ago and in 7 years of advertising, I think I received one call. I think people would be looking for a specific name if they were looking either in the online or in the hardcopy yellow pages, rather than looking for a Realtor to choose. This is why I have not advertised in it for years
